About the Cell

Since 2005, the Career Opportunity Cell has been actively working under the guidance of Dr. Poonam Bewtra (Convener). The goal of the Cell has been to empower the young women of our college by providing them with the job opportunities. Over the years, the Cell has been able to pitch in some of the renowned organizations in the college for placement of its students. Our students have been placed in S&P Capital IQ, EY, Fluor Daniel, Genpact, Aon Hewitt, Concentrix, ICICI Prudential etc over the years. At JDMC, placement is an ongoing process. Throughout the year, students are exposed to contemporary employability skills such as mock group discussions, written test, online test, personal/telephonic/video/psychometric interviews etc.

Highlights of 2016-17

Recruitment Drives

During 2016-17 the Cell has conducted recruitment drives with many organizations such as EY, Concentrix, Genpact, Aon Hewitt, Universal Data Solution, FIS Global Services IND Pvt. Ltd, Jet Airways, Flexability (RPO of ABC consultant). The Cell has successfully provided jobs to over 130 students for the varied profiles like Assurance Associate, Customer Service Executive, Junior Research Analyst, Team Analyst, Finance & Accounting, Banking Financial Service & Insurance and Voice etc.


In the recent years, besides placement there has been an increasing focus on providing the information about various Internships offered by companies. Our 19 students were offered the internship by IDBI Federal Life Insurance Company and 7 commerce students were selected for the internship with MagicPin. In addition, many of our students have interned through Internshala in various organizations such as Jagbros, Financial Doctors, Bpb Publication, Akaro, The Rising Welfare Society, Creation Cradle etc.

With the aim of making contribution towards development of a better society, the Cell has also welcomed many social organizations in the college such as Teach for India, India meets India, Gandhi Fellowship Programme. Career Opportunity Cell provides them a platform to connect with the students and persuade them to be a part of their organizations as interns.

Other Associations

Career Opportunity Cell has always been on the forefront to be a part of key Industry related events. Dr. Poonam Bewtra, Convener along with three student coordinators participated in a CII Conference on Start-Up Conclave held on 20th -21stSeptember, 2016. Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in collaboration with Young Indians (Yi) and Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship organised a Start-Up Conclave at Hotel Taj Palace, New Delhi. The aim of the programme was to discuss various issues regarding the development of start-up ecosystem in the country.

This year Ms. Deeksha Arora and Ms. Meenakshi Thapliyal of the Career Opportunity Cell represented JDMC as student co-ordinators at the Central Placement Cell of University of Delhi, helping and assisting in the smooth execution of the recruitment drives.


The Career Opportunity Cell, JDMC organised the JOB FAIR'2017 to develop a strong academic industry interface between JDMC and corporates and to provide various job opportunities to the prospects from Delhi NCR area under one roof. Our collaborator for this event was 247 Dreamjobs. It was an open job fair for all the final year under graduates and post graduates from various courses. Many participants registered from various colleges of University of Delhi, IP University, Amity University, Jamia, AUD, IGNOU, DTU, Sharda University, Gautam Buddha University etc. Prominent recruiters such as Angel Broking, HGS, Eureka Forbes, i-3indya Technologies, Tech Mahindra, IIPTA, Max Healthcare, Intelenet, Plaxonic, Amarjeet Associates, Inca Infotech, Caretel Infotech, GA Technocare visited JDMC on that day for hiring. The profiles offered were in HR, Marketing, Operations, Voice, Finance, Sales, Customer Associates etc.

Workshop & Seminar

The Cell also believes in providing the necessary guidance about various career options, resume writing, enhancing interview skills etc. therefore seminars, lectures and online employability test are conducted regularly for the students. This year also many of such seminars were organized namely:

1.Job Fair (February 25, 2017)

The Career Opportunity Cell, JDMC presents the platform and gives an opportunity to fulfill your dreams by choosing the right job for yourself. Here, we invite all the dreamers and believers who aspire to step into the Corporate World to JOB FAIR'17. It is an open job fair for all the final year under graduates where many big recruiters (around 15 companies) will be coming to hire students on various profiles like Accounting, HR, Marketing, Operations etc. We are expecting huge participation from various colleges of Delhi University, IP University, Amity University and many other colleges of Delhi/NCR. Prominent recruiters such as EaseMyTrip, Angel Broking, HGS, Eureka Forbes, i-3indya Technologies, Tech Mahindra, IIPTA, Max Healthcare, Intelenet, Plaxonic are visiting JDMC for hiring graduates from various colleges and from different courses.Our collaborators for this event are 247 Dreamjobs.

2.AMCAT Online Test (March 1, 2017)

AMCAT or Aspiring Minds Computer Adaptive Test is an employability assessment test to assess the aptitude, reasoning and technical skills of students and new graduates. AMCAT is a standardized aptitude test (i.e. a common aptitude test taken by millions of candidates), scores can be quickly compared across multiple candidates allowing recruiters to quickly generate a shortlist of good candidates. By performing well in the AMCAT, a good candidate can stand out amongst their peers. AMCAT is inherently fair since every test taker is evaluated on same parameters. Hence hiring happens strictly on merit. The AMCAT measures job applicants on critical areas like communication skills, logical reasoning, quantitative skills and job specific domain skills thus helping recruiters identify the suitability of a candidate.

Centre for Fundraising (CFF) is India's leading management consulting firm providing fundraising solutions to the Non Profit organisations. This NGO is interested in recruiting the right talent for their fundraising team and in developing?? customized training module. CFF works with Indian companies and multinational corporations with business interests in India to help them pick up the most suitable non- profit organisation for awarding grants and executing their CSR initiatives.

Seminar on “Career in Politics”on 15th February 2017

Career Opportunity Cell organized a seminar on “Career in Politics” with MIT School of Government, Pune on 15th February 2017 which was attended by the students from different courses. Mr. Ashish Loyal Lal, Head Promotions & Admissions, discussed about varied career options available in the field of politics such as Campaign Manager, Political Strategist, Political Analyst, Political Speech Writing etc.



Events organized in 2016-2017

EY GDS Anchor Programme, 12th July, 2016
Ms. Shilpa Maggo, teacher coordinator along with Ms. Sakshi Garg, student coordinator of Career Opportunity Cell attended the Anchor Programme by EY on 12th July 2016 in Hotel Holiday Inn. The Programme was designed to bridge the gap between the company and institutions where future plans are discussed by the leadership and recruitment team of EY. The senior level executive shared their experience of growth at EY, which was followed by question-answer round.



Soft Skills session by EY on 29th July, 2016

EY conducted soft skills session on 29th July, 2016 for the students of third year from the Department of Commerce. The session aimed at helping students in preparing themselves for corporate interviews and designing an effective resume.

Mr. Krishan Pratap Singh, Assistant Manager, Talent Hunt Team also gave the brief about the company, job profile offered, career growth and sponsorship offered by the company for higher studies. The slot zero was allotted to EY as per their request and166 students attended the same.



EY Placement Drive on 9th& 10th August, 2016

EY conducted its placement drive on 9th and 10th August, 2016 which included 4 rounds (online test, HR round, Technical round 1 and Technical round 2). Total 147 students appeared for the online test, out of which 114 cleared the test. After the completion of HR round, finally 47 students were shortlisted for further rounds. On day two, technical rounds were conducted and total 23 students were shortlisted for the post of Assurance Associate (22 from B.Com (Hons.) and 01 from B.Com). The joining of the students is expected in the month of July, 2017.



Workshop by National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India) on 6th September, 2016

Career Opportunity cell organised the workshop on “Entrepreneurship” with National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India) on 6th September, 2016. Ms. Tannu Sharma from the Department of English helped in organising the event. Mr. Pangotra, the speaker, highlighted various aspects like skills required to become an entrepreneur, resources provided by government for new start-ups, how the entrepreneur contributes to economy. The program included a day long workshop followed by a 15 day online training program, at the end of which the participating students received a certificate.



Seminar By ITM group on 21st September, 2016

A seminar focusing on “Enhancement of Leadership and Teamwork” was conducted by ITM group of Institutions which was led by Mr. Abhishek and Ms. Bhasha Tripathi. 66 students from Department of commerce and economics attended the same. They discussed about various topics such as importance of teamwork, skills required to become an efficient leader, successful leaders of our economy etc. The whole session was quite enriching for our students.



Participation in a CII Conference on Start-Up Conclave held on 20th -21st September, 2016

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in collaboration with Young Indians (Yi) and Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship organized a Start-Up Conclave on 20th-21st September, 2016 at Hotel Taj Palace, New Delhi. The aim of the programme was to discuss various issues regarding the development of start-up ecosystem in the country.

Dr. Poonam Bewtra, convenor along with three student coordinators of Career Opportunity Cell took part in the event. Many prominent personalities like Ambassador of Israel in India, government representatives, people from Industries, entrepreneurs, scholars and students attended the event. Six very interactive and informative panel discussions took place in which our students took active participation.



Concentrix Placement Drive on 26th September, 2016

Concentrix Daksh Business Services Private Limited, one of the Fortune 500 companies, conducted its recruitment drive which included three rounds (HR round 1, Aptitude test and HR round 2). In the HR round 1, total 79 students from various courses appeared out of which 70 cleared and appeared for the further rounds. After the final round, total 67 students were selected for the profile of “Customer Service Executive”.



A talk by Teach for India on 5th October, 2016

A pre-placement talk was held by Teach for India on 5th October, 2016. Ms. Komal Raheja informed the students about the two year fellowship programme, compensation package offered etc. The Teach for India is a cause based campaign for employing interns for educating slum area children in their nearby locality with the help of schools and educational points.



EY GDS Session on 19thOctober, 2016

EY conducted GDS session for strengthening the Campus Corporate Connection on 19th October, 2016 for the first and second year commerce students. Mr. Ajay Surve and Mr. Sanket Aggarwal interacted with the students whereby they discussed about the work culture in their organisation, their clients etc. They also guided students about how to prepare for the recruitment drives and designing an impressive CV.



Internship offered by IDBI Federal Life Insurance Company on 9th December, 2016

Twenty students appeared for the interview on 9th December, 2016 for internship offered by IDBI Federal Life Insurance Company. 19 students (17 from commerce department and 2 from English department) cleared the interview and were offered the internship but finally only 16 opted to join the internship.



Genpact Placement Drive on 24th January, 2017

Genpact offered three profiles for our students namely Finance & Accounting, Banking Financial Service & Insurance and Voice (Customer Services/Collections). Around 100 students appeared for the drive on 24th January, 2017. After the various rounds, 22 students were finally selected.



Seminar on “Digital Marketing” by TimesPro Group on 25th January, 2017

Career Opportunity Cell conducted a “Digital Marketing” seminar in collaboration with Timespro where Mr. Parikshit Thukral and Mr. Kanishk Matta were keynote speakers. They delivered an enlightening lecture on digital marketing whereby various topics such as rise in the usage of digital marketing, comparison between online and offline marketing, career options in digital marketing etc were discussed discussed. Around 123 students attended the seminar.



Pre-Placement talk of Gandhi Fellowship Programme on 25th January, 2017

A pre-placement talk was organised for informing students about the Gandhi Fellowship on 25th January, 2017. Mr. Shiva from the Gandhi Team talked about how the selected students will teach the technologies to under privileged students and how they will work upon different projects.



Internship offered by MagicPin on 1st February, 2017

MagicPin is a start-up which was established in 2015. An introductory session was organised for informing students about the MagicPin internships which was lead by Mr. Aditya. 50 students appeared for pre-placement talk, 25 participated in Group Discussion and finally 7 were selected for internship.



Volunteers from JDMC for Recruitment Drive By Central Placement Cell (CPC), University of Delhi

Ms. Deeksha Arora and Ms. Meenakshi Thapliyal represented JDMC as the student co-ordinators for the Central Placement Cell, whereby they contributed in the smooth execution of the recruitment drives. Their responsibilities included managing registrations, coordinating with the HR Teams of various companies, guiding and providing assistance to various applicants and overall management of the recruitment drive. CPC organised the recruitment drive for various reputed companies such as BT, FOREX, STEP BY STEP, HEAD START, TEACHER CITY, GENPACT AMAZON, INDIGO, FIS etc. on 17th, 18th, 20th,30th and 31st of January 2017 at the Conference Hall, University of Delhi. Around 500 applicants applied on various days.



Pre-Placement talk by India meets India on 1st February, 2017

A pre-placement talk was organised by India meets India for internship. India meets India is a social organisation which works for the development of people living in slum areas. Candidates work with the company to provide livelihood and resources to the under-privileged, tribes, specially abled persons etc. Mr. Manmeet Singh, the founder shared his experience with students of final year.



Recruitment Drive by Aon Service India Limited on 7th February, 2017

Aon Service India Limited conducted its recruitment drive on 7th February, 2017 which was inclusive of four rounds. The session began with the pre-placement talk. Around 50 students appeared for Group discussion, out of which 33 qualified for further rounds. Finally 13 students were selected for the profile of Customer Executive.
