Career Opportunity Cell Janki Devi Memorial College in association with Triedge organised a speaker session by Mr. Rahul Makin (RJ), where the speaker shared his views about how students can live life with satisfaction and how to find career path. In addition, a person from shared his experience and encouraged the students to do internships as it will help to gain experience and will provide a good corporate exposure.

Representatives from Triedge shared their experiences and informed students about the opportunities provided to them through the Online Internship Fair being organised by them in association with the Cell. The event was attended by more than 150 students.


Seminar in association with Times professional Learning on 3rd April 2018

Career Opportunity Cell organised a seminar on 3rd April , 2018 with Times Professional Learning (TPL), an education initiative of the Times Group that seeks to revolutionize vocational education and skill up gradation in India. They informed the students about their mandate program in collaboration with CRISIL Certified Analyst programme (CCAP) and discussed about its benefits with the students. The seminar was attended by 70 students.


The Cell organised its first ever ELYSIAN-The Corporate Event 2018 on 4th April, 2018. Esteemed panel comprises of RAHUL KAUSHIK (Founder of The Melting Words), KULJYOTI DHINGRA (Founder of Delhi Eats), AMAR S. (Stand-Up Comedian) and KARNIKA BUDHIRAJA (Fashion Blogger).

Few words from our speakers:

Rahul believes that you need nobody to hold you and lift up except youself; you are your own savior. Kuljyoti said that all extra-curricular activities will remain activities if you don't understand the motive behind them.

Amar believes that, "sometimes it's better to quit" - if it does not make you happy, quit.
Karnika discusses how women should not be taught to adjust and bend in order to save certain relationships, if it affects you and your health, then quit.

The event was attended by more than 120 students and was a huge success. Alpha Plus, The Times of India Group and Career Power were the education partners for the event. DU Buzz, DU Bulletin, DU Vibes, DU updates, DU Express, DU Assassins, and Delhi University Updates were the Media partners.

Seminar with OXXYHEALTHCARE on 1st Feb

The cell organized a seminar with OXXY HEALTHCARE on 1st of February 2018.The seminar aimed at informing students about the scholarship opportunities offered by the organization. Students can apply for the profile of lifetime campus ambassador to promote gender equality and women healthcare. Many celebrities like John Abraham, and Jacky Shroff are associated with the program. The interactive seminar was attended by around 100 students. Three positions are offered in the campus ambassador program:

Recruitment Drive by FIS on 8Th Feb

FIS conducted its placement drive on 8th, February 2018 for the profile of search engine optimization and adwords support. FIS is a global leader in technology, consulting, and outsourcing solutions.Around 64 students turned up for the placement drive from various courses. Two students were finally selected from B.A Economics (Hons). Their joining is expected by the end of July, 2018.


"Alight Solutions" conducted its recruitment drive on Tuesday, 16th, January 2018. Alight Solutions is the leading provider of cloud-based HR and financial solutions.The recruitment drive included four rounds of selection: Presentation, Group Discussion, Online Assessment and Final interview. Around 25 students appeared for the Drive.

Finally, 12 students were offered the Letter Of Intent and the result for one student was kept on hold. The Final List of Students is still awaited from the company.


The Career Opportunity Cell organised a seminar on "CAREER IN BANKING AND FINANCE" in collaboration with TKWS Institute. Mr. Awanish Sinha, the speaker highlighted growth of the banking sector in economy and the various career options available in banking. The Institute also conducted a Graduate Banking Aptitude test for the students. High scorers will be called for interview in March and the selected ones will be rewarded with a voucher and Rs 1 lakh scholarship. The session was attended by 60 students from different courses.

EY Soft Skill Session on 11th Oct

The Cell in association with EY organized SOFT SKILL SESSION on 11 October' 17 for first year students. It was attended by around 100 students from commerce department. Mr. Ankur, the speaker highlighted the importance of acquiring different skills and updating the resume.

Workshop by "Rangroot" on 16th Oct

COC in association with the NGO “Rangroot” organised a workshop on 16th October 2017. Rangroot is an innovative learning organization created to improve the quality of education in India and spread social awareness on issues like women empowerment, child abuse, health etc. Ms. Tina Verma, the President of Rangroot introduced the project “HOPE” to the students who are interested in pursuing an internship with the NGO. Around 80 students attended the workshop.

Seminar on "Interview Ready" on 25th Oct by Enigma

Enigma, Image consulting firm in association with the Cell organised a session on “Interview Ready” on 25th October 2017. Ms. Namita and Ms. Garima, speakers for the session addressed the audience about what factors should be kept in mind before, during and after the interview. They guided students about body language, clothing, posture, gesture and eye contact. Around 80 students from varied courses attended the event.

Internship Opportunity by Exide Life on 14th Nov

EXIDE LIFE came up with the internship opportunity for second year students. Around 40 students from different courses appeared for the aptitude test. After the test there was a brief presentation about the company.

Seminar on “Public Speaking” with T.I.M.E on 20th September 2017

The Career Opportunity Cell organized a seminar on 'Public Speaking' for students from all the courses in collaboration with T.I.M.E Institute. The speaker, Mr. Sunil Dutta talked about how to improve public speaking skills and discussed the importance of voice modulation, comfortable dressing, making eye contact with the audience and communicating relevant points during public speeches. Around 70 students attended the seminar.

Recruitment Drive by ARCUS Multi Services Pvt. Ltd. on 22nd September 2017

ARCUS Multi Services Pvt. Ltd. conducted its recruitment drive whereby around 55 students appeared from Commerce, English, Economics and Mathematics. Profiles offered were Social Media Marketing, Human Resource and Academic Counselor. Six students were finally selected by the company for its two months educational internship after which they will be selected for final placements based on their performance.

Seminar on “Colloquim : New Age Game Changer” with IILM on 23rd September 2017

Seminar on “Colloquim: New Age Game changer” was organized in association with IILM for students from all the courses. The two-hour long session, attended by 145 students focused on technological enhancement and how it has affected the society. It laid emphasis on artificial intelligence, robotics, internet and their disruptive outcomes. Event also had an interactive session of identifying problem, finding its solution and turning it into a business model by students. Winners of the exercise were distributed with prizes.

"#Startab"- An Interactive Workshop on Entrepreneurship by JOSH TALKS & Facebook

The Cell in association with Facebook and Josh Talks organized an interactive workshop on entrepreneurship #Startab on 26th September, 2017. Ayush Jaiswal and Vedant Maheshwari from Josh talks were the speakers for the workshop. Ayush Jaiswal spoke about his journey from school to setting up his own venture company. He also gave an insight of the failures that he faced throughout the course of his journey. Vedant Maheshwari gave a presentation on startups and the influence of social media on our lives. A total of 164 students attended this workshop.

Seminar on TIME MANAGEMENT with ITM on 9th October 2017

The Cell organised a seminar on “TIME MANAGEMENT” in association with ITM for the preparation of competitive exams on 9th October 2017. The speaker, Mr. Alok Kumar delivered an enlightening lecture on the topic. The session was attended by approximately 100 students from different courses.


Career Opportunity Cell organised a seminar on TIME MANAGEMENT by ITM for the preparation of competitive exams on 9th October, 2017. Mr. Alok kumar was the speaker of the session. Mr.Alok Kumar is a corporate trainer and IAS coach at Freelancer and is currently working as Training Consultant. It was attended by around 100 students from different courses.The speaker highlighted on various points that say Time management is Life Management.Beginning with the setting up of goal, if one has a burning desire to succeed then one need to be focused and so nothing is impossible. For managing one’s time, one should follow a proper time table and avoid spending time on unimportant things as time gone will never come back. The seminar concluded with statement that one should believe in oneself, prepare for success and one can achieve his/her goal.It was a highly interactive session and every student appreciated the speaker.

Joshtalk StartAAB held on 26/9/17

Career Opportunities Cell in association with Josh Talks organized an interactive workshop on entrepreneurship on 26th of September,2017 from 10 am- 12pm. Ayush Jaiswal and Vedant maheshwari came as speakers for a workshop by Josh talks.Ayush Jaiswal is the co-founder by guerilla ventures, startup grind and pesto and Vedant Maheshwari has helped scale 3 startups and he is also a leading digital at Josh talks.

Ayush Jaiswal spoke about his success story and his journey from learning to code while he was in school to setting up his own venture company. His story was remarkable and inspiring. He also gave an insight of the failures and disappointments that he face throughout the course of his journey. His speech was followed by a questions and answers session with the students.

Vedant Maheshwari presented before the audience a presentation on startups and the influence of social media on our lives. His presentation showcased the facts and figures related to Facebook usage by the people worlwide.

Students from courses like B.Com(Hons), B.Com (Prog), B.A (Prog), B.A politics science (Hons),B.A philosophy (hons), B.A economics (Hons) and B.Sc mathematics (Hons) were present for this workshop. A total of 164 students attended this workshop

About the Cell

Since 2005, the Career Opportunity Cell has been actively working under the guidance of Dr. Poonam Bewtra (Convener). The goal of the Cell has been to empower the young women of our college by providing them with the job opportunities. Over the years, the Cell has been able to pitch in some of the renowned organizations in the college for placement of its students. Our students have been placed in S&P Capital IQ, EY, Fluor Daniel, Genpact, Aon Hewitt, Concentrix, ICICI Prudential etc over the years. At JDMC, placement is an ongoing process. Throughout the year, students are exposed to contemporary employability skills such as mock group discussions, written test, online test, personal/telephonic/video/psychometric interviews etc.

Soft Skill Session by EY GDS

EY GDS organised a Soft skill session for the final year commerce students on 26th July 2017. Mr. Sanket Agarwal, the speaker shared tips on cracking corporate interviews and effective resume writing. The session also included a brief about the recruitment process by EY. Around 80 students attended the session.

Indo Global Skills Summit & Expo 2017

The Indus Foundation in association with The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship,New Delhi organised "The Indo Global Skills Summit & Expo 2017 on Skills, Startup & Entrepreneurship" on 28th July 2017 to take a deeper look at the present skill ecosystem and to identify future jobs & skills requirement. Dr. Amita and Ms. Ekta Bansal, members of career opportunity cell attended the summit with 34 students from the college. Many prestigious exhibitors like Alliance Francaise,Digital India,Incredible India,Amity University and other names institutions took part in the expo and solved the queries of students and unveiled about their institutions.The participants explored various new opportunities and broadened their horizon for future openings. They were also awarded with E-Participation Certificates.

EY Recruitment Drive

EY conducted the recruitment drive in the college for commerce final year students on 31st July and 1st August for the profile of Assurance Associate and selected 4 students for the same.

Highlights of 2016-17

Recruitment Drives
During 2016-17 the Cell has conducted recruitment drives with many organizations such as EY, Concentrix, Genpact, Aon Hewitt, Universal Data Solution, FIS Global Services IND Pvt. Ltd, Jet Airways, Flexability (RPO of ABC consultant). The Cell has successfully provided jobs to over 130 students for the varied profiles like Assurance Associate, Customer Service Executive, Junior Research Analyst, Team Analyst, Finance & Accounting, Banking Financial Service & Insurance and Voice etc.

In the recent years, besides placement there has been an increasing focus on providing the information about various Internships offered by companies. Our 19 students were offered the internship by IDBI Federal Life Insurance Company and 7 commerce students were selected for the internship with MagicPin. In addition, many of our students have interned through Internshala in various organizations such as Jagbros, Financial Doctors, Bpb Publication, Akaro, The Rising Welfare Society, Creation Cradle etc.
With the aim of making contribution towards development of a better society, the Cell has also welcomed many social organizations in the college such as Teach for India, India meets India, Gandhi Fellowship Programme. Career Opportunity Cell provides them a platform to connect with the students and persuade them to be a part of their organizations as interns.

Other Associations
Career Opportunity Cell has always been on the forefront to be a part of key Industry related events. Dr. Poonam Bewtra, Convener along with three student coordinators participated in a CII Conference on Start-Up Conclave held on 20th -21stSeptember, 2016. Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in collaboration with Young Indians (Yi) and Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship organised a Start-Up Conclave at Hotel Taj Palace, New Delhi. The aim of the programme was to discuss various issues regarding the development of start-up ecosystem in the country.
This year Ms. Deeksha Arora and Ms. Meenakshi Thapliyal of the Career Opportunity Cell represented JDMC as student co-ordinators at the Central Placement Cell of University of Delhi, helping and assisting in the smooth execution of the recruitment drives.

The Career Opportunity Cell, JDMC organised the JOB FAIR'2017 to develop a strong academic industry interface between JDMC and corporates and to provide various job opportunities to the prospects from Delhi NCR area under one roof. Our collaborator for this event was 247 Dreamjobs. It was an open job fair for all the final year under graduates and post graduates from various courses. Many participants registered from various colleges of University of Delhi, IP University, Amity University, Jamia, AUD, IGNOU, DTU, Sharda University, Gautam Buddha University etc. Prominent recruiters such as Angel Broking, HGS, Eureka Forbes, i-3indya Technologies, Tech Mahindra, IIPTA, Max Healthcare, Intelenet, Plaxonic, Amarjeet Associates, Inca Infotech, Caretel Infotech, GA Technocare visited JDMC on that day for hiring. The profiles offered were in HR, Marketing, Operations, Voice, Finance, Sales, Customer Associates etc.

Workshop & Seminar
The Cell also believes in providing the necessary guidance about various career options, resume writing, enhancing interview skills etc. therefore seminars, lectures and online employability test are conducted regularly for the students. This year also many of such seminars were organized namely:
