Independence Day Report 2018

teachers and students of Janki Devi Memorial College celebrated India's 72nd Independence Day on the morning of 15th August. It was a very special occasion for the college as it was the first time hostel resident students could also participate. The event was marked by flag hoisting, by the Principal Dr. Swati Pal with the young children of staff members. The proud moment was followed by the national anthem and the college prayer. In her address, the principal wished the students and members of Janki Devi Memorial College fraternity a very happy year ahead. She recited a poem by the Hindi poet Abhinav Shukla, which invoked the pride of all citizens on this occasion. She applauded the enthusiasm of the students and wished that they would maintain the sentiment through their futures. The audience were serenaded by Sarang - the Hindustani classical music society of the college. A surprise for the audience was the music medley of patriotic songs sung by the NCC student cadets of JDMC. The hostel residents also presented a dance and musical performance to mark the occasion. The street theatre society 'Anubhuti’ presented a short skit to showcase the diversity of our nation. It was a joint effort and demonstrated the spirit and glory of India in Janki Devi Memorial College.
The day concluded with a heartfelt thanks conveyed by the staff advisors to all those who came to celebrate the day.
