ABOUT THE SOCIETY

Logos - The English Literary Society of Janki Devi Memorial College has been one of the most active societies of the college since its inception in 2016. Logos aims to inculcate a spirit of healthy discussion and provides a platform for exchanging ideas, expanding creative imagination, and developing a keen interest in the performative literary arts. The society conducts regular sessions in order to rehearse various literary activities, such as spoken word poetry, creative writing, book reading, literary quizzing and picture captioning.

TABIR 2019 - THE ANNUAL ENGLISH LITERATURE FESTIVAL

Following the huge success of previous editions, TABIR 2019 received participation from students across various universities. Every year, the festival is conducted with keeping in mind a theme that enhances creativity in the form of multiple competitive and informal events.



EXPRESS O' SELF

An intra-college annual Literary event held on 19th of September' 19, for all the freshers, to express themselves through free verse, poetry, rap or fiction. This is organised to bring out the new writers of our college together to establish a care-free literary atmosphere. This Event saw numerous participants from various courses to a huge audience. It was an open theme literary event. One by one, every student who participated, expressed themselves through various genres.

This one was in collaboration with Shelfbook, who arranged a writing competition for the students. The event was followed by an open mic session.

The judges Ms. Rida Fatima and Mr. Anuj Kumar, along with our Logos convener Ms. Tara Negi decided and announced the winners. Kashvi Chandok, 1st year student of English Honours, won the first position.



SPOKEN WORD 4.0

Spoken word 4.O was scheduled and held on 8th November, 2019.

An inter-college poetic performance received not just a resounding audience but equally a big number of participants who performed, recited and sang their own pieces of writing.

Spoken word became a platform where the presenters let out their angsts, insecurities, emotions, tears, smiles, fears, imaginations which the receptive audience of the college gave an equal measure of cheer, applaud and a vibrant presence till the last minute.



TABIR 2020 - THE ANNUAL ENGLISH LITERATURE FESTIVAL

LOGOS organised yet another successful literature festival on 27th of Feb, 2020 with one creative writing event by the name 'GO FICTION' and three different informal events loaded with fun and games. Attempting at flourishing literary instinct among young masses, LOGOS collaborated with an online platform called 'Fuzia' that works for empowerment of women by showcasing their creativity, learning and networking with people all across the world.

     



SOCIETY MEETINGS
The members of the society hold weekly meetings to discuss events that are to be organized, to conduct interactive sessions on various issues, to hold poetry jams, impromptu drama sessions, and visual representation activities.

TABIR – THE ANNUAL ENGLISH LITERATURE FESTIVAL
Logos organises the Annual English Literature Festival, TABIR witnesses a huge participation of students from the across various universities. Every year, a certain theme is chosen for the festival, and multiple competitions and informal events are held under TABIR.

Logos is one of the very few societies to launch its festival right after its formulation. TABIR 2017 began a revolution in the form multiple competitive and informal events, addressing issues and creating awareness about the Queer Community under the theme of Queer Spaces.
