An online national webinar on “National Education Policy 2020: Opportunities and Challenges in Implementation” was organized by the National Education Policy (NEP) Committee and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Janki Devi Memorial College (University of Delhi) in collaboration with Shiksha SanskritiUtthanNyas (SSUN), New Delhi on 28th August 2021 with Shri Atul Kothari ji, RashtriyaSachiv, SSUN as the Distinguished Speaker.

The session started with the ‘College Prayer’. Prof. Sandhya Garg, Vice-Principal welcomed the Chief Guest and SmtUpasna Agrawal, DilliPrant Sah-Sanyojika, SSUN. Prof. Swati Pal, Principal, in her introductory address, emphasized the need for NEP and shared various initiatives of the college aimed at students’ holistic development like research, value education etc. and also the work being done in the capacity of Nodal College of cluster of colleges. Shri Kothariji enlightened the participants with the key features of policy–focus on multidisciplinary approach, skill development, research, values, introducing vocational components in education, setting up of Higher Education Commission of India, mechanism of giving grants etc. Prof. Payal Nagpal conducted the question-answer session, questions largely related to challenges in implementation, impact on workload, provisions for women and marginalized sections. Shri Kothariji ended on the note on the need to plan its implementation with a positive approach and in a phased manner and that desirable changes in society will come only with a change in the education system. The webinar ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Shilpa Chaudhary. The webinar was attended by over 220 participants from various universities across India.
