The Strategic Plan of Janki Devi Memorial College' University of Delhi' is a road map for the growth and consistent development of the college. It directs the path that the institution must follow in order to realize the vision and mission of the institution. It provides the strategies to achieve the goals' both long and short term and also the metrics associated with the performance indicators.
While the aims and objectives of the College as well as its mission have been an integral part of the vision of the college since its inception' a formal strategic plan of action was conceived of and a more systematic method of moving ahead was evolved after the first NAAC visit. This was in keeping with the recommendations of the Peer team. The IQAC team along with the Governing Body of the college charted out the course of action to be followed in the next five years.
VISION STATEMENT
JDMC' a premier women's college of the University of Delhi' since its inception in 1959' endeavors to promote enduring knowledge which is global in its perspective and yet local in its relevance. Students are inspired to pursue excellence in academics' extra and co curricular activities and sports' in an environment which is vibrant and constantly evolving. Founded with a vision to empower women' JDMC strives to help its students to develop a capacity to think' lead and change the world.
MISSION STATEMENT AND CORE VALUES
The egalitarian approach of the institution promotes the inclusion of all sections of the society. The institution is equally inclusive of all its constituencies' with their respective duties' responsibilities and achievements. The students and staff' belonging to diverse classes' castes' ethnic and religious groups' cooperate in a democratic environment to take the college to newer heights of excellence. The institution besides providing education' also serves as a platform for cultural expression and excellence' constantly reminding students of the primary importance of cultural diversity' national integration and tolerance' along with the need to be in harmony with the environment

GOALS
The Institution recognizes that the recommendations of the Peer team during the first NAAC cycle visit' if implemented in the letter and spirit of the report' would only enhance the mission and vision of the college. Hence the following goals have been formulated:
- To create an inclusive atmosphere so that learners from across communities and categories are given equal attention and facilities including remedial classes for slow or needy learners in keeping with the government's policy of 'Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat'
- To provide the best possible infrastructure to facilitate the teaching learning process
- To inculcate a spirit of enquiry among faculty and students by making research an integral part of education
- To provide a diverse range of academic and skilling courses to students so that they hone their interests and take entrepreneurial initiatives to become economically independent in the future; which the government has been encouraging though its 'Atma Nirbhar' policy
- To expand the range of disciplines being offered by the college and include Science programmes
- To ensure that all stakeholders think about the greater good of the community and social welfare through extension and outreach activities
- To access and generate more career opportunities for students and make them employable
- To maintain high levels of academic standards though access to and use of the best books/ journals (including e resources) and eminent resource people.
- To ensure that all aspects of the administrative machinery are constantly enhanced for smooth functioning
- To learn from peer institutions though collaborative ventures' grow as leaders and mentor institutions in remote and underdeveloped areas
- To build citizens who serve the country as it develops in the 75 years following Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav
- Enhance green practices of the college
STRATEGIES
The college aims to improve infrastructure in multiple ways. For example' the college intends to provide:
- a hostel for outstation students
- better housing facility for teaching and non teaching staff
- improved sports facilities like an open gymnasium etc
- smart classrooms and audio visual facilities in classrooms
- research room
- recording room
- more labs
- regular maintenance and upkeep of the infrastructural facilities
The College aims to strengthen Research work by
- Setting up a research centre
- Financing research projects within college and facilitating research projects being offered by other organizations
- Encouraging faculty research projects' student research projects and projects by students mentored by teachers
- Holding regular talks by experts to educate faculty and students about research methodology and other related areas
- Setting up an academic e journal for faculty members and encouraging department research journals
- Facilitating publications which are an outcome of research projects
The college aims to help students enhance their skills' learn from outside the curriculum and become more employable by
- Offering a wide range of cost effective add on courses that cater to subjects of interest to the students and are not part of the curriculum
- Offering skill oriented courses and workshops
- Organizing skill related talks by experts
- Encouraging and facilitating entrepreneurial activity and start ups so that students can earn while they learn and are trained to carry forward their business initiatives upon graduating
- Engaging with more organizations that provide career opportunities and internships to students
- Coaching students to prepare for job related competitive exams as well as for higher studies
- Ensuring that books that help students prepare for competitions are easily available in the college
- The college will also strive to get the permission to run Science Courses in the college in the years to come
The college will strive to excel in academics by
- Creating an academically stimulating atmosphere and calling distinguished academics to deliver talks and encouraging interaction' holding national and international seminar and conferences
- Improving library facilities and ensuring that books required by students are available in college
- Mentoring students for their academic' extra and co curricular interests' career related queries and physical/mental health
- Providing remedial classes to weak learners and more challenging resource material to advanced learners
- Encouraging faculty to enhance their pedagogic skills by offering FDPs
- Motivating faculty to be intellectually active by encouraging them to publish' present papers' research guidance and research projects
- Setting up of an e resources centre that will further enhance research in particular and academics generally and which students can use for their benefit
- Entering into academic collaborations with other Higher educational institutions
- Learning from peer institutions and playing a mentoring role for those institutions that do not have access to many facilities
The college will endeavor to build a community spirit and support extension and outreach activities by
- Setting up an Extension and Outreach Centre that will plan a more structured way of involving all stakeholders in contributing to the welfare of the community through extension and outreach activities
- Setting up welfare schemes for needy students to assist them financially
The college will promote a transparent system of functioning and will try to decentralize and democratize the administrative machinery as well as ensure that there is smooth functioning in all domains by
- Enhancing skills of the non teaching staff and motivating them to join courses that will make them more professionally productive as well as help them to in their career prospects
- Involving all stakeholders (students' parents' faculty' non teaching staff' governing body) in the IQAC of the college so that constructive ideas for improving the college come in from all quarters and there is a sense of collective responsibility
- Ensuring that there is an effective mechanism for grievance redressal' feedback' audit(of academics/accounts/ administration/library etc) and compliance with suggested measures
The college will train students and faculty to emerge as leaders as well as individuals who can create a sense of cohesiveness by
- Encouraging students to run add on courses and play mentorship roles
- Providing a platform for such Clubs/ Societies/Associations etc that hone leadership traits
- Encouraging faculty to actively mentor not just their own students but also students from outside the college
- Creating an inclusive environment in which individuals from marginalized communities or with a disability are a part of the corporate life of the college
Janki Devi Memorial College is known for its greens which were appreciated by the Peer team; the college will strive to adopt all environmental friendly practices and commit itself to becoming a truly Green College.
