The enabling unit of our college is working in the direction of fulfilling the vision of its founder Bhaiji of providing a holistic education to its students with disabilities too. The unit set up in 2008 has come a long way since its inception. Initially there were only around 5-10 students but as the unit over the years has being equipping these students with various technical and add on courses the unit has become one of its kind in the University of Delhi.

Facilities:

Our college is the only one that provides free meals to all the students on a regular basis. Earlier the Food for Hungry NGO was funding the meals but since 2016 Mr. R.C.Rastogi, resident of Madhuvan Delhi has been funding the meal plans for these students. JDMC is the only college that has provided an exclusive room with 9 laptops, all equipped with the latest NVDA software to its SwD. Apart from this the students have a full time qualified lady assistant to take care of all their requirements like filling up of forms, opening bank accounts, recording lessons, helping with the lessons etc. The unit has provided all the students (18 in number) with angel pro- pocket recorders. Further in order to make them self reliant the students present their assignments in braille or orally to the teachers concerned.

Facilities:

In the year 2016 Dr. Kusum Krishna, former chairperson of the college initiated scholarships in the memory of her late husband Sh. Autar Krishna of 20,000/- to be given to 5 meritorious students with disabilities

Activities:

JDMC is also the first college that has an inclusive solo singing and instrumental music competition for these students as part of its annual college fest Symphony.

Workshops & Seminars:

The unit also conducted a computer class on BASICS for the students in the months of September- October 2016. Two of our students attended a workshop at ILLL regarding courses, curriculum and its accessibility on the e-portal. A two day training program on NVDA was arranged in collaboration with Saksham on the 12-13th of January 2017 for the students.

The students also keep abreast by participating in various competitions at intra and inter college level. They have won accolades at the braille reading competition, creative writing competition on 'Nari Sashaktikaran',poetry recitation. Four of our students won a laptop each at the competition on computers conducted by AICB in 2016-2017.Ten students have received scholarships from the Vice Chancellors Fund University of Delhi,Help the Blind Foundation (Chennai) and 2 from the UP Government.

Regular sensitisation workshops are conducted by SCORE Foundation, Samvedna, Sanjeevani India, Amarjyoti Charitable Trust in the college

Educational trips and Picnics:

The unit in order to acquaint and sensitise the students with the rich heritage of our city regularly organises educational trips to Humayun's Tomb, Rajghat, Qutub Minar and India Gate. It is not at all surprising to know that JDMC is recognised as one of the colleges in University of Delhi, which is sensitive to the needs of persons with disabilities.
