The IQAC organized a session on “National Education Policy 2020: Salient Features” on August 16, 2021 (Monday) at 12 noon. Prof. Payal Nagpal, Dept. of English, JDMC & Member, NEP Implementation Committee, University of Delhi, was invited as the Speaker for the talk.

The session began with a welcome address by Dr. Shilpa Chaudhary, IQAC Coordinator and Introductory remarks by Prof. Swati Pal, Principal, JDMC. Prof. Nagpal talked about the salient features of National Education Policy and its Impact on the education system of the country. The focus is on multidisciplinarity and it intends to create inclusive, equitable and lifelong learning opportunities.The speaker talked about the three categories of institutions in the new structure namely Research-Intensive University, Teaching-Intensive University and Autonomous Degree Granting College. She also described the HEI continuum that comprises faculty development, community engagement and constructive collaboration. There will be UG courses innature of Certificate, Diploma, 3-year and 4-year Degree/ Degree with Research. The transition requires careful design of new curricula. Prof. Nagpal also described the proposed institutional structure with HECI at the top and four verticals including NAC, NHERC, HEGC and GEC.

The presentation by Prof Nagpal was followed by a question-answer session wherein participants sought clarifications to several issues pertaining to National EducationPolicy. The session was attended by 95 faculty members of the JDMC and the participants felt enriched with the information.

The session ended with a Vote of thanks by Dr. Shilpa Chaudhary, IQAC Coordinator, JDMC.
